Oil & Gas
Quantex was appointed to assist a client on its US$ 1 billion Joint Venture project comprising the design, procurement and construction of a deep sea floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) facility. Quantex advised its client on the primary contract and on the contracts for the procurement of engineering design and construction. The construction contracts were undertaken in fifteen different countries with the final assembly being undertaken in Europe. The services provided by Quantex carried on into the construction phase and the management and valuation of changes and the valuation of the major changes to the project.

Pipelines
Quantex has been appointed to prepare and negotiate the settlement of claims in connection with major oil and gas pipeline projects including land pipelines and above ground installations in Europe, India, Yemen, Thailand, Myanmar and China and sub-sea pipelines and in the North Sea British, Norwegian and Dutch Sectors, Persian Gulf and South China Sea.

Building
Quantex has been appointed on some of the largest and complex building projects in the forensic analysis of design information, cause and effect exercises on events giving rise to delay and disruption and the particularisation of quantum.

Building projects include redevelopment of a major hospital under a PFI scheme; several complex urban regeneration projects, the remodelling of a Grade II listed city centre building to provide modern office accommodation and retail areas, a new build and remodelling contract what was at the time largest mixed use development in Europe, a 40 storey tower for residential and hotel accommodation and a £1.2 billion brown field redevelopment project including the construction of new retail and leisure facilities, major transport infrastructure works and key worker housing.

Petrochemical
Quantex was appointed by a major chemical manufacturing corporation to supplement a team of technical and legal experts, lawyers and counsel. Our client commissioned a new plant to be built on a design, engineer, procure and construct basis. The complex agreement encompassed on-shore and off-shore elements, split between Japanese Yen, US Dollars, Euros and Sterling. The plant was delivered late and the contractor claimed for reimbursement of an array of additional costs, totalling in excess of £20 million. Our client counterclaimed for defective work. The matter was referred to an International Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Tribunal, and following numerous formal hearings the claims under consideration have been reduced to a small percentage of the original with the final award pending.

Civil Engineering
Quantex was appointed to assist a specialist design engineering practice following a host of complicated changes on a huge transport infrastructure development. The project consisted of around 6km of dual carriageway; with almost 3km in twin bored-tunnels and the remainder in cut and cover sections. The design was constantly amended as a result of instructed variations by the construction consortium; leading to exceptionally high instances of aborted design and major re-design. These claims were finally valued in excess of £10 million and required close coordination with geo-technical professionals to enable the composition of claim narratives and explanation of tunnelling techniques and of the design solutions adopted.

Defence
Quantex has been appointed to assist in establishing its clients entitlements on several defence projects in the defence built environment ranging from the upgrading of defence staff permanent housing to the design, construction and installation of temporary field accommodation for 4,000 military personnel in a theatre of war comprising living and sleeping accommodation, utility services, infrastructure and storage facilities. Quantex has assisted its clients in defence equipment contracts for the design and construction of control equipment and consoles.

Airports
Quantex has assisted clients in the commercial management of the design and construction of airport terminals as well as having experience in airport apron and taxiway construction projects. Quantex Consulting have been engaged directly by an airport authority to act as contractual advisors throughout the construction phase of a new 25,000 m2 terminal building.

Sport
Quantex was appointed by clients to establish and resolve their contractual entitlements on several recent sports arena projects ranging from preparing a claim for the liquidator for a subcontractor’s entitlement to relief from delay damages and recovery of the costs of delay and disruption to complex main contract forensic analysis of factors causing delay and disruption, critical path analysis and the particularisation of quantum on the largest sports stadium projects in the United Kingdom.

Process Engineering
Quantex was engaged by a mechanical contractor that carried out the process pipework installation at a £120m man-made fibre production facility. Quantex prepared claims for entitlements to an extension of time and additional payment. Following commencement of formal proceedings, Quantex Consulting assisted the instructing solicitor in the finalisation of particulars to support pleadings prior to negotiated settlement of the disputes.

Mechanical and Electrical
Quantex has been appointed on numerous commissions arising from mechanical and electrical works. These commissions range from the to prepareation of claims for an electrical contractor which undertook the electrical installation to a historic court house in Ireland; claims for changes to commissioning procedures for a System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for a major UK contractor on a sewage treatment works; the balancing and commissioning of a cold water supply and air-conditioning system to a high rise building; and a major commission to assist with claims for delay and disruption in respect of building management systems and access control on a major international stadium.
